‘We want to show with Hockey World Cup that Spain has other sports than football’

Terrassa — Berta Bonastre, the Terrassa tournament director at this Women’s World Cup, believes a legacy will be set for hockey to become a force in Spanish sport.

While Valencia is the heartbeat of hosting international matches, Terrassa has co-hosted the World Cup alongside the Netherlands, with Bonastre admitting that original plans were to host the whole tournament in Spain. 

Bonastre, 30, was appointed tournament director in February after she retired from the international game with Spain. Her remit has been to showcase the sport to the region as the sport tries to muscle in on the mainstream sports for eyeballs.
