Sam Ward: My top 3 players at the Women’s Hockey World Cup

The Women’s World Cup 2022 is under way and I’m finding myself gripped by the prospect of a thrilling tournament.

The women’s game has never been better with the physicality, tactical intelligence, skill execution and mental conditioning at the highest it has ever been. 

Whenever a major tournament takes place I am asked for my views. It’s always hard to make a shortlist as it inevitably means leaving out great players but I have decided to limit this to just three players we have already seen on show. It is highly subjective so I would love to hear reader opinions on this – either post in the forum or comment at the bottom. I’ve also added some thoughts on who I think could win!
