We need to teach respect and fair play to grow hockey umpire numbers

We have seen in Belgium, ever since the Red Lions have been on top of the hockey world, a huge increase in hockey players, especially all the young ones waiting to be the next Tom Boon and Victor Wegnez. Unfortunately we don’t see the same increase in young umpires.

Why? How to change that? I think it is the question that every association is trying to figure out.  

It’s a difficult one to answer to be honest. How to build the next generation of Laurine Delforges and Gregory Uyttenhoves?
