Maddie Hinch returns to England women duties in Hockey Pro League

Maddie Hinch returns to international hockey this weekend for the first time since last summer’s Tokyo Olympics.

Hinch, 33, and Anna Toman are back in England women’s squad from their Dutch club duties as they face Spain in the FIH Pro League.

Both Hinch and Toman could reach milestones this weekend. Hinch is set for her 100th game and Toman her 50th. Giselle Ansley will also mark her centenary of England caps this weekend.

Goalkeeper Miriam Pritchard and Olivia Hamilton miss out on the squad on this occasion.

Phil Roper and Liam Sanford, as well as rising talent James Oates, make the England men’s squad for their Pro League games against South Africa at Lee Valley.

Roper has also been playing in the Dutch Hoofdklasse but is now back in contention, having played twice in the FIH Hockey Pro League so far in this campaign.

With Sanford and Oates also in, Liam Ansell, David Goodfield and Sam Taylor are not part of this weekend’s squad.
