India’s 2023 Hockey World Cup venue inspired by Colosseum

The second venue being built for the 2023 men’s World Cup in India has been inspired by the Colosseum and is on track to be finished inside 15 months.

The 20,000-seater stadium in Odisha’s Rourkela has been named after freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

The capacity number will make it India’s largest hockey stadium, while officials are trying to confirm from the FIH if it can be claimed to be the world’s biggest hockey-specific venue.
