Premier Division format: ‘For hockey to move forwards we need to look at franchise system’

Yesterday, we sought the views of men’s Premier Division coaches on the split league format in the top flight. Here, we speak to England Hockey’s top flight women coaches on the structure

“It effectively came down to a mini franchise model for 10 weeks and the freedom was reflected in our performances.

It took the pressure off and meant we could focus on ourselves and there was no looming relegation that was creeping up on us. We knew we had it in us to beat the top sides and to establish ourselves as one of those sides.
