Once again, coaching company MT13 are serving up a tantalising schedule of hockey camps for children during the Easter break.
Their novel approach of grouping players by ability and not age is a key distinction giving children a genuine chance to accelerate their learning and skills development. Similarly their insistence that the coach-player ratio never exceeds 1-10 means that children get unusually high levels of coaching and feedback, making their camp experience more enjoyable and productive. In fact, with the younger age groups and on Elite camps, this ratio is usually 1-8.
These are two of the reasons why MT13 are growing in popularity and their Elite Residential camp – where players stay over for 2 nights – is already sold out. However there are limited places available on other 2 day camps at carefully selected locations around the Midlands.

The hugely popular camps are jam-packed with a variety of warm-up routines, skills rotations, gameplay and tactical considerations. They have introduced revolutionary new equipment and refreshed many of the drills and activities, giving camps a fresh look and feel and ensuring they remain fun-packed.
Perhaps this is why, at some camps, over 70% of the bookings are repeat bookings.
Matt Taylor said: “We’re proud of the ethos we’ve developed at our camps. By grouping players by ability and keeping our coach-player ratio high, we ensure that the kids are pushed hard and come away from the camp as better players. But we never lose sight of the fact that it needs to be fun, which is why we are always introducing new concepts, and have a continual feedback loop in place with players and their parents, constantly looking to adjust and improve the experience.”
Due to the improving weather, Easter is one of the most in-demand time for hockey coaching camps across the UK. The camps are best suited to players between 8-16 years old, who are asked to bring their own packed lunch, drinks, hockey stick, shin pads and gum shield.
Price is £55 per day or £90 for two days, and camps take place between 10am to 4pm, with early drop-off and late pick-up available.
Taylor added: “The more energy and enthusiasm you bring, the more you will get out of the day. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the highest points as well as individual prizes based on several factors including attitude, teamwork and skill development. Each player goes away with a goody bag. So, no excuses – get booking!”
Summer residential camps are already available for booking and to look out for the May half term and Summer 2 day camps coming soon
