Repton’s corner set-up was on song as Sally Walton finished the opening weekend with 11 goals as the Women’s Premier Division newbies put themselves in the hotseat for a Super 6s Hockey Championships finals’ day berth at the first time of asking.

Repton opened with three wins from four matches and sit one point behind East Grinstead. Buckingham, last year’s cha pions, and Sutton Coldfield sit third and fourth respectively.

Repton had two huge wins to give themselves a healthy goal difference. They beat Wimbledon 10-3, with Walton bagging five, and Leicester 8-2.

Meanwhile, Hampstead & Westminster were the team of the weekend in the men’s Premier Division, courtesy of four wins from four and the only unbeaten record.

Hampstead opened up with a 8-6 win over rivals Wimbledon, coming from 3-2 down before a hectic final five minutes which saw goals.

Ed Horler heads the scoring charts, with 11 goals, with his Wimbledon side one of four clubs sitting behind H&W on nine points, including defending champions Surbiton.
