Laslett family XI sets sights on 50 annual Boxing Day matches

It’s not often a team made up of one surname can run out a full side, with a welcome bonus of family subs for good measure.

Yet, this is what the Laslett family have been able to conjure every Boxing Day for an 11am start since 1982. And lo behold anyone who has an excuse for missing the annual push back.

This year’s running will be extra poignant. The golden shirts with 11 named Lasletts on the back, provided by organiser Jim Laslett, will on Sunday form part of a memorial fixture to pay tribute to Dick Laslett, who passed away in June.
