Team of the year: Argentina junior men’s ’40’ win Junior Hockey World Cup

The call came on a Tuesday at midnight. “You travel tomorrow,” came the request. Ian Tarquini, along with 19 other Argentinian juniors, rushed to pack; 20 players called up to play for the national team after “20 friends, colleagues, brothers had to be locked up by Covid.”

An army charter flight was laid on as Los Leoncitos, as well as a patched up Leoncitas team, boarded the plane bound for Chile and the Junior Pan American Championships, a qualifier for the Junior World Cups earlier this month.
