English Masters’ debutant laps up Indoor Hockey World Cup

Debutant Dudley Bartlett provides an insider’s account at the last World Masters Indoor World Cup in 2019

England Masters men’s over-45, 50 and 55 teams returned from the World Masters Indoor World Cup, held at the prestigious Hong Kong Football Club, proving there is plenty of life after 50.

The selection process had been going on for five months, with the final 24 informed just before Christmas 2018. With players from every corner of the country – Bath, Bristol, Fareham, Harrogate, Liverpool, Ipswich to name a few – getting together for some practice sessions, it reinforced the commitment shown by the players. So after a couple of warm-ups the squad was ready to fly out and put on the Three Lions.

The next World Masters Indoor World Cup will be held at Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA between Feb 15-20. Nearly 50 teams have registered across the age groups.
