England Hockey commissions update to pitch facilities strategy

England Hockey is commissioning a review and update of its national facilities strategy that aims to provide a reliable picture on the state of the game – as the 3G issue continues to take a firm stranglehold on the sport.

The strategy, which will be undertaken by KPP, provides analysis of current club hockey facilities and assesses demand for facilities to service match play and training provision for the various formats and levels of the game.

In September we revealed that the rise of 3G astroturf over the last 20 years is dwarfing the amount of hockey competitive pitches left in England. And the number shows no sign of abating.
