England Hockey leagues: East Grinstead clinch final top six berth

Canadian Jamie Wallace propelled East Grinstead to the top six as his hat-trick sealed a 3-2 win on the final day before the winter break in the Men’s Premier Division.

The cold conditions would have suited Wallace, who joined over the summer, as the West Sussex side, for so long seemingly out of contention for the top six, beat fellow hopefuls Beeston and Oxted to the final spot.

Beeston, who were two points behind Oxted in seventh but with a better goal difference, landed the first blow in the sixth minute as Kai Aichinger scored from a penalty corner.
