In our regular anything goes Q&A, we speak to players and coaches on topics ranging from temptations, influences, fashion sense and match teas. This week: Scotland goalkeeper Tommy Alexander
What was your earliest ambition?
To be a professional footballer, but quite quickly I realised I was never going to be tall enough, so I looked for a sport with a smaller goal. A professional hockey player was the next best thing.
The event that altered the course of your life and character.
Off the field, my parents’ divorce. I was only eight at the time. You don’t realise the knock on effects until much later in life. I’d say my character to adapt to situations and having resilience to life’s challenges was learnt early on.
