Macronutrients: Is protein really that important for hockey players?

I hope you enjoyed the first instalment of my nutrition column last month and have seen improvements in your game from implementing some of the basics I covered. This month, we explore protein – arguably the most important macronutrients for training and match day muscle recovery. 

What is dietary Protein? 

Dietary protein is a macronutrient that is essential for building, recovery and repair of muscles. It is found in various foods, most commonly in animal and dairy products, but also beans, pulses and legumes.
