England Hockey Premier Division: Match fixtures, previews

Two of the Vitality Women’s Premier Division’s form teams lock horns on Saturday when table toppers Hampstead & Westminster travel to Buckingham.

Yet to drop a point so far this season, Hampstead & Westminster travel to Stowe Schol aiming to make it five wins from five. Buckingham, playing a game less, are also unbeaten with one win and three draws. On home turf, Zak Jones’ side will be a tough outfit to crack.

Loughborough Students will want to secure their first points of the season when they host Holcombe.

Third in the standings before the 2020/21 season was cancelled, Loughborough suffered two defeats in their only games in the league so far this year. A first win will be an emotional affair following the sad passing of assistant coach Andy Gibson.

Currently third, Wimbledon could move above East Grinstead – who receive a bye for this weekend – by beating Beeston, while Surbiton will be hoping to move themselves back into the top four by recording a win over the University of Birmingham.

Clifton Robinsons travel to Swansea hoping to repeat the 3-0 victory they earned away against the Welsh side last season.

In the men’s top flight, Surbiton host in-form Brooklands MU in a Saturday night clash at Sugden Road.

The Manchester side have shown some resolve this season in their last three matches, with two draws and a win, having faced their two university rivals alreay this season.

Hampstead & Westminster’s Matt Guise-Brown celebrates PIC: MARK CLEWS

Old Georgians, with 16 goals from three games, last tasted defeat in the league back more than a year ago against Holcombe, their opponents on Sunday.

Hampstead & Westminster have two produced the goods when it mattered with two stunning comeback wins already this season but will be hoping for a slightly calmer affair when they play Beeston, while Wimbledon face a University of Durham side who perhaps haven’t got the points their performances have earned so far this season.

The other game sees Oxted play host to the University of Exeter aiming to return to winning ways against the side they recorded their first ever top flight victory against last season.
