Strike! Saxon Tigers find target for Futures Cup under-15 title

Saxon Tigers bowled over their rivals and then skittled out themselves in their trophy-winning celebration as they proved the standout team in winning the Futures Cup under-15 girls’ title.

In a tight contest, Saxon Tigers beat Caledonian Cougars 2-0 in the final thanks to tournament top scorer Katy Furber’s double.

Furber’s quick reactions found the backboard to take the lead, before Monika Watkins’s crash ball found Furber with a deft deflection one minute later.

Saxons’ captain Anna Cogdell said: “The win was absolutely amazing for me and everyone! As one of the captains, it was fabulous to motivate the girls and be around them when we won.”
