Argentina’s Olympic hockey tenure over after Germany firepower

Argentina’s five-year reign as Olympic champions came to a shuddering halt on Sunday as Germany’s penalty corner battery paved the way for a Tokyo Olympic semi-final berth at the Oi Hockey Stadium.

A 3-1 defeat also ends a period mid-Olympic cycle which would have fitted in with a South American Telenovela and also saw corner specialist Gonzalo Peillat out of the team over coaching disagreements.
