How top Dutch goalkeeper coach adapted ball focus from Jennifer Capriati

Dutch hockey goalkeeping specialist Martijn Drijver, who first started working with Maddie Hinch in 2016, on the importance of ball focus in our latest Tips from the Top

A player needs to find the right setting in balance and to be focused 100 per cent on the direction, height and speed of the ball.

This can be done twice per week and every time there is a variation in exercise: PCs, shots or using different coloured balls.

On all my hockey balls I have a black spot with a black line round the ball.
