Hockeyroos busy baking recipe for Tokyo Olympics success after fallout 

Rio 2016 seems a long time ago now for Australia’s Hockeyroos – not least 2019 world goalkeeper of the year Rachael Lynch.

The three-times winners suffered their worst finish of sixth five years ago and with that followed an inquest, Lynch and fellow veteran Georgie Morgan dropped from the squad and cast aside before a successful appeal reinstated the country’s most capped goalie.

2020 was a tumultuous year for many but the disharmony in the Australia squad has brought about better times and a fresh perspective for a delayed Tokyo Olympics, the Hockeyroos seeking to beat the Netherlands to become the first four-time women’s gold medallists.

“The things that came out from the appeal were about my behaviour,” Lynch told Fox Sports last week.
