‘A shame’ English clubs yet to enter European hockey organisation

The association formed last month to protect European domestic hockey says it is “a shame” that no English clubs have been able to sign up so far.

The European Hockey Clubs Organisation (EHCO) was launched late last month and although talks were held with champions Surbiton and initial discussions with Wimbledon, so far it is clubs from Belgium, Holland, Germany, Spain and Austria who have signed up.

With few English clubs playing in continental competition, coupled with the fact that the domestic structure differs from that of its European counterparts, this is hardly surprising.
