Germany captain Janne Müller-Wieland left out out of Tokyo Olympics squad

Captain Janne Müller-Wieland, Germany’s most experienced current player, has surprisingly been left out of the Die Danas hockey squad for both the EuroHockey and the Tokyo Olympics.

The 34-year-old, with over 300 caps, was set to compete in her fourth Olympics after being the youngest squad member at the Beijing 2008 Games, but national coach Xavier Reckinger omitted her on Thursday, while the squad is still set for approval by the Germany Olympic confederation.
