A head junior coach at Redditch HC has praised the club’s role in the local community after organising a food collection to help feed the vulnerable.
Food drive organiser Becki Clarke was taken aback when it was revealed that Batchley Support Group (BSG) had delivered 10,000 food packages to residents in 2020.
“I feel as a club we have an important role to play in the local community,” she told the Redditch Standard. “Not only as a provider of sport but to support the wellbeing of the wider community as a whole. We wanted to do something more to help.”
Club members got in on the act by donating food to start the local generosity following an increased demand for the support group.
“With the support of the community we have been able to maintain our vital service and respond positively to the increased demand,” said Mark Barron of BSG.
“We would like to thank Becki and Redditch Hockey Club for their kind donations, this will help us to ensure that vulnerable people are supported and fed this winter.”
Redditch HC said on Twitter: “I think the pictures say it all, the volume of items donated was incredible! Thanks again for making a difference to someone’s life, you should all be very proud.”
