FIH Masters Hockey World Cup 2014 – Newsletter

Here is the latest newsletter from the organiserrs of the Masters World Cup in Rotterdam this June:

Match schedule delayed

We’re very sorry to ask for some more patience for the release of the Masters World Cup match schedule. Due to multiple mutations, late entries and withdrawals the release of the schedule is delayed.
But, we can tell you that:

  •  the tournament starts Thursday June 5;
  • there will be managers- and umpire briefings prior to the opening ceremony and a welcome party on Wednesday June 4;
  • each team will play a minimum of five and a maximum of 7 games;
  • with about 70 participating teams we’ll play 35 matches (!) each day on 7 pitches (3 water based, 4 sand based);
  • it’s our aim to provide you with a match schedule that enables you to support your national team(s) participating in the Rabobank World Cup in The Hague – it’s not a promise, but we’re trying our utmost

About logistics: urgent request !

We’re busy with arranging the logistics, but… we need your help!
As explained earlier we like to offer you a bus shuttle service connecting HC Rotterdam with the underground system. That will give you an easy connection from ‘down town’ to both the hockey pitches ánd the World Cup venue in The Hague.

It will also be possible to get a dedicated bus transfer hotel > club > hotel. But: at your own costs.

Together with our partner ATP Event Experts we’re making the logistic arrangements. For that it’s vital that all team managers provide us a.s.a.p with the following info:

  • team / contact / name / email / (cell) phone
  • hotel accommodation booked
  • arrival & departure dates
  • yes/no airport transfer

Sent us the requested info by mail. It’s very important that we have this info before March 12 2014!
For teams that didn’t booked accommodation yet: ATP Events Experts has some accommodation available. See information about accommodation on our website.

Important: our email address

Due to unforeseen circumstances (and to relieve HC Rotterdam’s main mailbox) we’ve created a new email address. If you want/need to contact the organisation committee of the FIH Masters World Cup 2014 please sent an email to: masters@hcrotterdam.com.

Catering & events – you’re our guest

Hockey Club Rotterdam will take care that during your stay almost all your needs and desires will be fulfilled.
A professional team will take care for breakfast-, lunch- and dinner arrangements. Every day different menus, every day different offers. You, your team, your fans and your families are welcome every day.
And when the matches are over at the and of the afternoon the parties and other events will start at the lovely venue of HC Rotterdam. You will be our special guest at the special events and the parties with live music.
At large screens the Rabobank Hockey World Cup will be broadcasted live and HC Rotterdam will be very happy to guide you through the wonderful City of Rotterdam with its modern and spectacular architecture and the huge and impressive port area.

You will be able to make your reservations and bookings for the special packages shortly.

World Cup Tickets: hurry up!

At this moment there’s a huge demand for tickets for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague. About
60 percent of all tickets is already sold.

We strongly recommend you to purchase your tickets for the matches in the Kyocera Stadium as soon as possible.

Practise facilities

We’re very pleased to see that all of you want to start the Masters World Cup fit and well prepared. The number of requests for practise facilities in the days prior to the start of the tournament is overwhelming.

Even with seven pitches available we’re faced with ‘capacity problems’. We’re trying to fulfil your wishes and will give priority to ‘early birds’.

According to FIH regulations training sessions on the day before the start of the World Cup – Wednesday June 4th – are free. For training sessions ahead of Wednesday June 4th we charge you with €40,- (sand pitch) of €70,- (water pitch). Reservations for training sessions by email: masters@hcrotterdam.com

Where to stay & what to do?

Playing the Masters World Cup will take most of your time,but fortunately there will be enough time to visit the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague and for sightseeing and shopping.
The Netherlands is a small country. From Rotterdam city centre it’s less then one hour by train to, for example, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Antwerp (Belgium). But there’s no reason to leave Rotterdam! There’s enough to see and to do. Visit the website of Rotterdam Info.

Perhaps even more useful is the
Rotterdam App.
You can download the App very easily.

Request to all team managers & contacts We’re sending out this newsletter to national masters contacts and the contacts of confirmed participants. Please forward this newsletter to your team mates and others interested.
