[img_assist|nid=8648|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=220|height=88]East Grinstead are targeting the top of the table in the NOW: Pensions Men’s Hockey League Premier Division this Saturday, as they play host to strugglers Loughborough Students.
With leaders Beeston playing in the Euro Hockey League, the Sussex side could go top if they get a victory. And while Beeston will have a game in hand it will provide an important psychological boost.
“It’s a good opportunity to try and bank another three points, which is vital at this time of the season as we try to build a good foundation. With Loughborough looking like they’re struggling we need to make the most of our chances.
“We will be looking to move on from our performance against Hampstead and Westminster last weekend, and we were very pleased with the return of Mark Gleghorne after a long and painful rehab from his foot injury. Hopefully he will be back on form for this weekend.”
Elsewhere, Reading could also go top if they can overcome a Sheffield Hallam side who notched up their first ever Premier Division victory last weekend.
And Hampstead and Westminster will want to beat visitors Cannock to keep their place in the top half of the table. Finally, bottom of the table Canterbury host a Wimbledon side who could overtake Hampstead if they win.
Fareham entertain University of Exeter in the NOW: Pensions Conference West, and could go top if they win with leaders Cardiff and Met playing Premier Division leaders Beeston in the Euro Hockey League this weekend.
Southgate will want to preserve their 100 per cent record in the NOW: Pensions Conference East when they travel to St Albans on Saturday, while second-placed Teddington go to bottom club Brighton and Hove in a bid to keep pace with the early leaders.
In the NOW: Pensions Conference North bottom of the table West Bridgford play host to leaders University of Durham, and second-placed Bowdon head to Wakefield, where a victory could put them top.
