In-form Sam Ward bagged another two goals for Beeston in the win, after Richard Lawrence had given them the lead from a penalty corner on 19 minutes.

Ward scored on 43 and 57 minutes – both from open play – before East Grinstead’s Ashley Jackson scored a consolation goal from a corner in the final minute.

Canterbury scored their first win of the season, beating Loughborough Students 4-1.

After Liam Foster’s early goal, Mickel Pierre scored twice, while Isaac O’Connor was also on target.

Reading notched their second win from three games as they beat Cannock 5-2, with all the goals coming in the first half before both sides defended strongly for the rest of the match.

Sheffield Hallam lost 2-0 to Hampstead and Westminster with the South Yorkshire side still adapting to life in the top flight. Richard Bond and Neil Hamilton scored the winning goals.

In the NOW: Pensions Conference West, Cardiff and Met are the only side still unbeaten after they won 5-0 at Team Bath Buccaneers. Mark Whatling scored two in the victory.

Chris Seddon hit four goals for Teddington as they beat St Albans 10-0 in the NOW: Pensions Conference East to secure their first league win of the season.

And in the NOW: Pensions Conference North, Bowdon and University of Durham both kept their 100 per cent records. University of Durham beat Brooklands 2-1, while Bowdon defeated West Bridgford 4-2.
