England and Australia’s goalkeepers conspired to produce a low-scoring draw in the Investec World League semi-final in London.

Hollie Webb’s first international goal – a hard drive from the top of the circle – gave England the lead in the 25th minutefrom a PC after it took the home side the better part of the first half to adjust to the pace of the game.

England’s pressure continued into the second half with Rachel Lynch producing an amazing behind-the-head stick save from a looping ball to deny a second to the home side.

Australia started to get more of a handle on the game as England faded just slightly. The pressure resulted in a corner, well converted, high to Hinch’s left by Jodie Schultz.

Hinch then produced another fine save to her right of another Schultz corner to keep the scores level.

England coach Jason Lee said: “Even though we spend a lot of time in defence we created some good chances.” It was a pragmatic approach. “I would guess we won’t be playing like that in a a year’s time.
