Two Investec Premier Division sides met in the final game on Saturday at the Investec Women’s Knockout Finals with Clifton and Bowdon Hightown locking horns in the Investec Cup Final.
When the two sides met in league action both fixtures ended in a draw, so it was always going to be a tight fixture. After a goalless first half it was Clifton that broke the deadlock in the second through Liz Sinton.
Bowdon Hightown, however, were quick to reply and levelled just five minutes later through Charlotte Hartley. Then, with the game seemingly headed for extra time, Sally Walton’s mazy dribble and insightful pass found Tina Cullen in space to strike a winner with just two minutes remaining to secure their 9th Investec Cup Final victory.
