Canterbury go into the championship play-offs

[img_assist|nid=6238|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=100]ENGLAND, April 1 – Cannock’s slim chances of making the play-offs in the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division were dashed as they lost 3-2 to Canterbury on Saturday.

Dan Coultas put Cannock into the lead with just eight minutes on the clock but Nat Joy soon equalised for the visitors. With the score at 2-2 going into the last few minutes of the game, Canterbury ended on a high after Michael Farrer slotted home the winning goal.

The win sees Canterbury finish in third and they will now go into the play-offs along with Beeston and Surbiton. East Gristead could still edge Reading out of teh fourth play-off place, if they win by 13 goals at Southgate on Thursday night.

Sheffield Hallam will go into the promotion play-offs after topping the Men’s Conference North by one point, thanks to a 6-0 victory over Bowdon. Phil Roper was on target twice in the rearranged fixture.

Men’s Conference North: Sheffield Hallam 6, University of Durham 0; Belper v Bowdon home walkover; Khalsa v Olton and West Warwickshire home walkover.
