[img_assist|nid=3469|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=220|height=144]AMSTERDAM, December 22 – Amsterdam is calling for hockey fans this Easter with the Wagener Stadium – home of Amsterdam H&BC – named as the venue for the Euro Hockey League round of 16 and round of eight fixtures.

Beeston, East Grinstead, Reading, Scotland’s Glynhill Hotel Kelburne and Ireland’s Lisnagarvey have all made the final 16 of Europe’s top-level club hockey event.

And their is a guarantee of at least one English team making into the last eight with Beeston and East Gristead taking their domestic rivalry on to the European stage.

The Wagener Stadium has hosted some of the biggest international events in hockey, including the 1973 Hockey World Cup, the 1983 and 2009 EuroHockey Nations Championships – when England won gold – as well as numerous FIH Champions Trophy events.

The 2013 KO16 competition will be the third Euro Hockey League tournament to take place at the stadium, following EHL Final Four events in 2010 and 2012.

Founded in 1892, Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club is the oldest hockey club in The Netherlands. After a period which saw various relocations, the club finally settled in the ‘Amsterdamse Bos’ around the Wagener Stadium in 1938.
