[img_assist|nid=6847|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=42]BURTON, December 16 – Beeston are the early leaders of the Maxifuel Super Sixes Championships men’s premier division after an exhilarating opening day which saw Ben Arnold score six goals at St George’s Park in Burton upon Trent.
Arnold and Tim Davenport were in scorching form, powering to a hat-trick each in their opening game against Doncaster.
Doncaster weren’t lacking in firepower themselves though as Carl Smith matched their feat and Tim Shelley hit a brace.
But when the dust settled, it was Beeston who left the pitch with an 8-6 victory. But it was only a job half done with a game against Surbiton to play in the afternoon.
Simon Egerton showed his prowess in front of goal with a hat-trick and incredibly Ben Arnold notched another three goals.
But Surbiton were in on the scoring too as players from all over the team pitched in with goals. However, they fell just short of the challenge and Beeston outmuscled them 7-6 to take maximum points.
Surbiton did get off the mark in the table later in the evening with a 4-3 victory over Old Loughtonians, thanks to a Fergus Dunn hat-trick.
The biggest win of the day was East Grinstead’s 11-2 with braces from Ashley Jackson, Matt Cox, Tim Stueven and Joe Naughlty.
Jackson was on target again for East Grinstead with three goals in their tense 5-5 draw with Reading. They are in second place at this early stage.
Loughborough Students find themselves bottom after two games although Old Loughtonians and Surbiton also find themselves without a win.
