Reading jump to third as Canterbury and Leicester are frozen out

[img_assist|nid=6596|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=82|height=100]LONDON, December 1 – Team GB star Alex Danson was on target twice as Reading jumped up to third with a stunning 6-1 win over Olton and West Warwickshire in the Investec women’s hockey league premier division on Saturday.

It was a day to forget for Olton who conceded two penalty strokes in the match, one either side of half time.

Meanwhile, Liz George took her tally for the season to six with a brace against Slough as her University of Birmingham side ran out convincing 5-1 winners.

Clifton jumped above Sutton Coldfield with a win over their rivals today, although at half time it looked unlikely with goals from Charlene Mason, Jane Sixsmith, Jen Parkinson and Sarah Mills giving Sutton Coldfield a 4-2 lead.

But Clifton turned it around in the second half with a goal frenzy led by Els Mansell which saw them win 6-5.

Canterbury go in to the winter break leading on 24 points, even though their match at Leicester was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The match between Bowdon Hightown and Surbiton suffered the same fate.

Investec Women’s Hockey League (December 1 2012):
