[img_assist|nid=6665|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=91|height=100]MELBOURNE, December 1 – England’s first major international competition since finishing fourth in the London 2012 Olympic Games started well with a Richard Smith corner putting them 1-0 up against India after 15 minutes.

But the London wooden-spooners hit back with goals from Danish Mujtaba (FG, 22), Yuvraj Walmiki (FG, 38) and Gurwinder Singh Chandi (PC, 66) to lead pool A on goal difference.

Five players made their senior international debut in the 3-1 loss and England head coach Jason Lee said he hoped that the experience was a positive one.

“We played well in patches and I’m very pleased for those that earned their first cap today. I hope it was a positive experience despite the result.”
