[img_assist|nid=6238|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=100]READING, October 14 – Reading and Canterbury drew 5-5 after a thrilling match in the Investec women’s hockey league premier division on Sunday.
Two goals from Jade Mayne helped Canterbury to a 3-1 lead, with Sarah Kerly scoring the other. However, Reading pulled it back to 3-3 at the break through Jess Brooker, Susie Gilbert and Sam Quek.
Canterbury took the lead with Nikki Triggs scoring on 45 minutes, only for Reading to pull level again with a 53rd minute goal from Emma Thomas.Lucy Hyams put the visitors back in front on 61 minutes, but Brooker’s second goal for Reading gave them a share of the spoils on 63 minutes.
In the England men’s hockey league Canterbury defeated Reading 4-2 to draw level with Beeston at the top of the premier division.
The sides were level at half time before two second-half strikes took the visitors to victory.
Nat Joy had given Canterbury an early lead in the eighth minute, and an own goal compounded Reading’s problems as they went 2-0 down.
Strikes from Jonny Codling and Andy Watts on 23 and 28 minutes brought the home side back level, but Kwan Browne and Ross Gilham-Jones scored second-half goals which gave Canterbury the points.
