Clifton share the points with champions Leicester

[img_assist|nid=6189|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=220|height=220]LEICESTER, September 29 – Leaders Clifton travelled to Leicester to face a difficult tie against the reigning champions, but honours were even at 2-2 in the Investec women’s hockey league premier division on Saturday.

Leicester took the lead after 24 minutes as Hannah Macleod met a penalty corner with a firm shot that flew into the Clifton goal.

Els Mansell restored parity just five minutes later and at half-time the score was 1-1. Macleod struck again on 50 minutes – this time from open play.

But Emily Atkinson’s strike on the hour levelled the scores once more and as the whistle sounded at the end of the game, a hard fought draw seemed a fair result.

Surbiton remain undefeated after seeing off Olton and West Warwickshire with a 2-1 away win thanks to goals from Amy and Vicky Bryant.

Bowdon Hightown thrashed University of Birmingham 4-0, despite Tina Cullen missing a penalty stroke and Sutton Coldfield battled to a 3-3 draw with Canterbury.
