[img_assist|nid=3959|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=73]Germany’s women have won their home hockey tournament in Bremen in one of the last major international outings before London 2012.
In final day results, the hosts smacked New Zealand 5-1 while South Africa picked up a 4-1 win over Belgium on the back of a Pietie Coetzee first-half hat-trick.
That win gave South Africa third place and Belgium fourth at the Four Nations tournament at Club zur Vahr.
World number 16 Belgium were coming off a shock 1-0 win over Germany on Saturday but ran into an SA blitzkrieg as Coetzee nailed a second minute penalty stroke, followed by a penalty corner and field goal in the opening half hour to add to Jen Wilson’s diving deflection goal in the fifth minute.
The three goals took Coetzee’s world record to 245 in 248 Test matches, 25 ahead of the previous mark of 220.
Belgium pulled a goal back in the 27th minute and enjoyed a very strong second half but the early damage did the trick for SA.
SA return home Monday night to join the Team South Africa holding camp in Pretoria.
