England men’s Euro squad depleted by Pearn injury

England forward Mark Pearn will miss the remainder of the EuroHockey Nations Championships in Monchengladbach. He will have surgery tomorrow on a torn meniscus on the right knee.

The 34-year-old East Grinstead player suffered the injury during England’s 4-2 defeat of Ireland on Sunday and sat out England’s second match, against the Netherlands on Monday. He returned to the UK on Tuesday.

Coach Jason Lee said “We’ll miss Mark’s creativity on the pitch and his positive influence around the group.  We know disappointed he is and wish him all the best for his recovery.”

Pearn cannot be replaced in England’s squad at this stage of the tournament.
