Hockey player to take up Great Britain Hockey board position

Andy Borrie has been appointed to the board of Great Britain Hockey as an independent director.  He replaces David Collier, who has completed his four-year term on the board.

Borrie, 48, is deputy director of sport at Loughborough University where he leads the university performance system. He has extensive experience as a consultant in world class sport science and coaching and is on the board of England Netball.

He is a hockey player with his local mixed hockey club, Loughborough Carillon. “It is an exciting opportunity to help Great Britain Hockey build on its recent success and to continue to strive for success in the future,” said Borrie.

Richard Leman, president of Great Britain Hockey, said: “We would like to thank David Collier for the time and commitment he has given Great Britain Hockey; his views and opinions have always been highly respected.  We now look forward to welcoming and working with Andy, whose skills and expertise I am very confident will be a superb addition to the board.”

Andy Borrie will take up the position on September 1, 2011
