Geneva’s Servette HC are European club of the year

The European Hockey Federation (EHF) has chosen Servette HC from Geneva, Switzerland as EuroHockey Club of the Year, 2010.

The EHF said that while any of the entries would have been worthy winners, Servette HC showed impressive player growth from 12 players in 1990 to 253 in 2010.

This, along with the successful link with a local school and the strong ties with family contributed to the final decision.

The EHF also acknowledge the following clubs who impressed with their entries and were strong contenders:

  • CD Terrassa, Spain – Continuous development of family hockey and the club celebrated its centenary in 2010.
  • Bremer HC, Germany – Player growth from 169 members in 2002 to 389 members in 2010, with an emphasis on facility development and focus on youth.

Servette HC will be presented with their award during the EuroHockey Club Champions Challenge I, Men, in Lousada, Portugal, where their men’s team is competing.
