A hat-trick of open play goals from England star Ashley Jackson kept East Grinstead at the top of the men’s premier division with a 5-1 win at Surbiton. Other goals for the Sussex club came from Darren Cheesman and Dave De Prez. Tim Pinnock scored a consolation corner for the home side.
Another 5-1 win – by Canterbury at Cannock – maintained the status quo at the top of the women’s premier where the Kent side are still leading Leicester by a point. Over in the women’s conference north our trusty sideline reporter Andy Smith reports that a quicker more organised Loughborough Students side leapfrogged Midlands rivals Sutton Coldfield. Katie Hewitt twice managed to react first in the scrambles that followed penalty corners for the students. Soon after the break Holly Brown took her chance well for 3-0. Sutton were then frustrated in their attempts to claw their way back into the game, hitting the post and missing chances. Vicky Woolford struck what turned out to be a consolation goal.
