Dream start for Scots in Delhi

Scotland 1 India 1 (women)
Scotland had a dream start to their Commonwealth Games campaign, stunning the Indian fans in the first minute with a Holly Cram goal.
Cram was set up by a fine run from Vikki Bunce – who along with Emily Maguire in defence continued to impress throughout the game.
India played more positively in the second half and equalised with a fine turn and reverse strike from Jasjeet Kaur Handa. Abi Walker would have hoped to have done better with the shot which cannoned of the inside of her right leg. The Canterbury stopper redeemed herself however with some fine keeping as India cranked up the pressure late in the game.
The Scots too had some late chances and may just be ruing not turning their dream start into a dream finish.
With Australia and Scotland’s opponents tomorrow South Africa also in this group, qualifying is likely to be tight. The Scotland-South Africa game is at 6.30pm, Tuesday, Delhi time. That’s 2pm back in the UK.
