Birmingham University and Leicester maintain winning form

University of Birmingham top the women’s England Hockey League on goal difference after the third round of fixtures. Leicester, also with a 100% record, are in second place.

Sarah Page scored a double for Birmingham with Sophie Bray scoring the third. Helen Armishaw scored twice for Brooklands Poynton.
Leicester’s four came through doubles from Rebecca Herbert and Hannah Smith. Rebecca Halle scored for Reading. The Berkshire club are yet to score a point in the league this season.
In the second Midlands derby of the weekend, women’s conference north Loughborough Students managed what their male counterparts failed to do on Saturday by turning over local rivals Beeston four goals to two. First half goals by Laura Bridge(PC),Katie Hewitt(FG),Josie Inverdale(PS) and Sarah Jones (FG) gave the students the three points.
