England reach Champions Trophy final

A last-minute PC strike from Richard Smith put England in with an outside chance of reaching tomorrow’s Champions Trophy final.
But England still needed two results to fall their way. The Dutch obliged with a backs-to-the wall 1-0 win over hosts Germany.
That too went to the last minute when a sprawling right post save by Jaap STOCKMANN denied the Germans the draw that would have seen them pip England for second placed on goal difference.

Australia finished the job with a stroll-in-the-park win over Spain.
Not great hockey, but a great day for England. The highlight of the day was SImon Mantell’s reverse finish against NZ – watch it on video if you can.
The final will be at 2pm, Sunday (UK, BST)
New Zealand will play Spain for the wooden spoon at 9am
Netherlands will play Germany at 11.30am
