Germany 5 New Zealand 2
Australia 6 Netherlands 3
Spain 3 England 3

The Australian hockey machine rumbled on on day two in Mönchengladbach. The Kookaburras at least looked human when the Netherlands edged their way to a 3-2 lead ten minutes into the second half. But the Dutch must have regretted prodding the sleeping giant as the World Champions hit back with four unanswered strikes.
In the day’s opener, the hosts Germany dispatched the other southern hemisphere team New Zealand. For English fans the final game was a heartbreaker with a late Spanish equaliser denying England a much-needed three points.
