World young hockey player of the year Ashley Jackson is returning to East Grinstead.
The 22-year-old England international has signed for the Sussex club, which he left in 2008 to play professionally with HGC in the Netherlands.
HGC were runners up in the Dutch championship last season, with Jackson the top scorer in the Hoofdklasse league – widely considered to be the best domestic competition in the world.
During his two seasons in Holland the midfielder developed his already formidable drag-flicking skills scoring 29 goals including 21 corners in the 2009-10 season.
While playing outdoor hockey for HGC, Jackson continued to play indoors for East Gristead and was part of their championship-winning side this year.
He is currently playing for England in the men’s Champions Trophy in Mönchengladbach where he has already scored two penalty corners in two matches.
