The winner came from a piece of individual skill from Ashleigh Ball. The midfielder picked up a loose ball in the inside left channel, beat three Chinese players on her way into the circle then saw her reverse-stick cross-shot turned over the line by Charlotte Craddock. There were still 18 minutes to go, but two yellow cards, including one for Chinese skipper Fu Barong, stifled any hope of a Chinese comeback.
