Helen Richardson
Local hero Helen Richardson (above, left)grabbed a goal in each half to secure England’s second win of the Champions Trophy.
Both goals came from well-worked stick side PC deflections. Coupled with an energetic defensive display in midfield the two goals capped off one of Richardson’s best displays in an England jersey for some time.

Germany brought the score back to 2-1 when Natascha Keller tidied up a penalty corner with six minutes to go. England keeper Beth Storry saved well from Eileen Hoffman in the dying minutes to ensure three points for the home side.
After the match, German coach Michael Behrmann was furious about the disallowal of a German ‘goal’ in the first half. Following an English appeal the video umpire ruled the German penalty corner injector had both feet in the field of play and ruled out Tina Bachmann’s strike.
